Rehoboth Antiquarian Society Handyperson
About the Position: The Handyperson for the Rehoboth Antiquarian Society (RAS) will provide repair and maintenance services to its properties, including Blanding Public Library and Goff Memorial Hall at 124 Bay State Road, and the Carpenter Museum and the Carpenter Museum Barn at 4 Locust Avenue.
This position is for ten(10) hours per month, divided between the two facilities. Additional hours may be available at the discretion of the directors. Pay is $25/hour.
Goals & Duties: Routine maintenance responsibilities include such things as replacing light bulbs, moving or installing furnishings, moving HVAC units and replacing filters as necessary, installing weather stripping and films on doors and windows, cleaning out gutters and window wells, etc.
Occasional tasks may include painting interior and exterior surfaces not requiring the services or equipment of a professional painter, light carpentry work, and minor plumbing tasks such as replacing faucet washers and clearing drains.
Hours and Schedule: This is a 10 hours a month, year round position. The schedule is set by the handyperson with at least once monthly contact with both the Directors of the Blanding Library and Carpenter Museum.
Requirements: Applicants must be able to lift item weighing as much as 50 lbs. Must be able to climb ladders. Must have basic hand tools and skills needed to perform job functions. Must submit at least two job related references and pass a CORI.

The Carpenter Museum and E. Otis Dyer Research Center welcomes volunteers who are interested in history, genealogy, and community programming. We Ask All Volunteers to:
- Attend a training session to learn about the Museum and Research Center’s protocols
- Enjoy working with people, young and old, as well as maintain professionalism, especially when working with the public
- Undergo a background check (CORI) if volunteering with our school groups

Types of Volunteering Opportunities:
- Regular Volunteers are needed for behind the scenes research and collections work. These volunteers usually have a special interest in genealogy or experience in handling archival materials and/or artifacts. We also welcome museum studies, archive management, and library sciences students who would like to get hands on experience in the field.
- Special Programs Volunteers are needed for our large annual events such as Strawberry Festival and Crafters’ Marketplace. We also need volunteers for evening and weekend programs throughout the year.
